Robert Ralph Riley


Robert R. Riley, 77, formerly of Olde 8 Road in Boston Heights, passed away April 3, 2003.

Mr. Riley was born December 14, 1925 in Kent, Ohio, to Arthur J. Riley and Helen Siegle Riley. He was a resident of Akron and Bedford, Ohio, where he was an overhead crane operator for Lewis Welding and Castle Metals. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the European sector - Germany, France, and Austria. Upon retirement in 1988, Mr. Riley moved from Boston Heights to Lake Placid.

He was a member of the VFW in Northfield, Ohio. Having been active in model aircraft all his life, he was currently active in the Sebring Model Airplane club, the Highlands Radio Control Club, and one of the founders of the recently formed Lake Placid Aeromodelers. After the war, Mr. Riley earned his pilot's license, and owned two aircraft, which he flew out of Akron Municipal Airport and Welcome Airport in Northfield, Ohio. Survivors are wife Nancy (née Nancy Sholle) of Lake Placid, sons William of Avon, Ohio; Michael of Warren, Michigan; and preceded in death by son, Robert E. of Somerville, Massachusetts; also survived by two grandchildren, and sister Betty Lake of Saratoga, Indiana.

Memorial service Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at 11:00 am, Fountain Chandler Funeral Home, 125 Park Avenue, Lake Placid, Florida. An additional graveside service to be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in the Village of Boston Heights, Boston Mills Road, Boston Heights, Ohio.
